Politics, reaching the lowest common denominator.

I don't propose that a change should be made to our voting system, {Thats a discussion for another thread.}
However when you look at how everybody gets a vote whether they understand how it goes down or not, I don't think it's any surprise that we create politicians who have to lie to appeal to the majority of people who don't think very hard about the information at hand. A politician who sets out to be up front and honest and really do the straight up action in each instance is ussually thwarted very quickly by the current of other tactics already established by their own evolutionary course, where each tactic must survive in a certain environment, ie among the other tactics of other politicians, for example, a tactic or strategy of "don't tell lies to advance your political carreer" is a good and honourablbe strategy, but how will it fair against "don't tell lies to advance your political carreer except start by telling a big lie" or Lie when you think you can get ahead by doing so" Not very well I should expect.
These are similar statements to those found in "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins but I think it applies to many many scenarios.

Hence the sucessfull tactic is not likely to be one of purity or even resemble in any way the strategy which they would like to be seen as running with.

Have you ever noticed that nobody makes cars or busses or planes etc where everybody gets a set of the controls? they always have a nominated driver or crew. Could you imagine if you got onto a bus or a plane where evey seat had a set of controls. would you stay or get off quickly? If you stayed, would expect the plane to crash or the bus to end up in a ditch?

They I ask, is it really any surprise that what we call democracy is a vehicle with no real chance of travelling in any direction but going round and round in circles keeping the people busy beeping the horn and waving out the windows, some smiling because they think its heading where they want to go, some smiling because they don't know where they want to go but this seems like a popular direction, some, furious because despite their efforts to steer and point out to everyone else to mind that ditch they are all just too busy smiling and waving and beeping the horn.
I picture the patients of a mental assylum on a day trip in their bus blissfully unaware of what where how who why anything, and the few who can see whats going on, they are the screamers.
It may be a fair system if its in a pure form, but make no mistake its not a vehicle going anywhere. They vehicles that are going someplace are doing so with ease on a high level highway, shifting funds and moving opinions.

Does that make any sense to anyone else?
